Replay Determines Victory: Nuggets at Bulls
The Bulls game ended in dramatic fashion last night as Brad Miller hit the game winning shot with 0.0 seconds left to give the Bulls the lead 91-90 – only to have it overturned by replay review which gave the Nuggets the win 90-89.
Referees used replay three times in the final 10 seconds of the game. First, with 10 seconds left they determined that the Nuggets in fact had possession of the ball. Second, after Chauncey Billups purposefully missed a free throw with 0.6 seconds left that allowed time to expire, the referees used replay to determine that Joakim Noah rebounded the ball and called timeout within 0.3 seconds. Third, the review of Brad Miller’s “supposed” game winning basket that was then overturned.
It is hard to believe that a team can rebound a missed free throw, call timeout and shoot the game winning shot, but I guess it is possible in the NBA these days – although it did not work out for the Bulls last night so maybe it is not possible.
Missed in all of this drama down the stretch was Noah’s career high 21 rebounds which is only the ninth time I have seen a player grab 20 rebounds in one game (the eighth time I saw it was last week when Luol Deng had 20 rebounds).
Obtaining Tickets
I had already purchased a $10 upper deck ticket for this game since it is difficult to find a ticket for less than $10 outside of the United Center.
