Memphis, Tenn.-- - Louisville starter Scott Barber fired a two-hit shutout as Louisville defeated the University of Memphis baseball team 10-0 in seven innings Sunday at AutoZone Park to take the three-game series two games to one. The Cardinals (12-5, 2-1 C-USA) gave Barber early run support as the righthanded pitcher held the Memphis (5-10, 1-2 C-USA) offense hitless through four innings.

The Cardinals scored twice in the first and second innings and adding a trio of runs in third to build a 7-0 lead. Louisville shortstop J.T. LaFountain had an RBI in each of the first three innings as he finished the contest 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double. Cardinal secondbaseman Nick Haley also had three hits and he scored a team-high three runs.

"We fell behind early and that allowed their pitcher to come right after us," Memphis head coach Dave Anderson said. "He threw the ball well today and we just could not get anything going offensively."

Barber struckout 11 Tigers and did not allow a hit until the fifth inning when leftfielder Ryan Martin lined a single off the glove of Louisville first baseman Morgan Bojorquez into rightfield. Third baseman Michael Lewis added a single up the middle in the sixth inning, but the Tigers could not mount a serious threat.

Bojorquez added his second home run of the season and series in the sixth and finished with a 2-for-3 effort and two RBI. Dave Williams, Jr., Josh Bolen and Ron Braun also had two hits and an RBI for the Cardinals.Third baseman Greg Taylor hit his first home run of the season in the seventh inning.

Memphis returns to action Tuesday at AutoZone Park when the Tigers will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the first of two mid-week games between the two teams. The teams will also square off Wednesday at AutoZone Park. Game time for both contests is set for 7 p.m.
