Bandits take down Force 4-0, Canney takes
victory Bandits’ pitcher Eileen Canney kicked things off in
the pitchers circle and quickly struck out four of the first
six batters in the first two innings to start the game. With
Samantha Findlay on second and two outs in the bottom of the
second, Bandits outfielder Nicole Trimboli sent a deep line
drive over the centerfield fence for a two run home run
putting the Bandits up 2-0. The Bandits threatened again when
in the bottom of the third, Amber Patton safely bunted to move
Aileen Morales to third, bringing Kristie Fox to the plate
with only one out. Fox dropped a smooth bunt for a suicide
squeeze, scoring Morales from third to put the Bandits up 3-0.
Patton reached second base safely while Fox reached first on
the play. The inning ended shortly after. Canney finished out
the top of the fourth and was replaced by Bandits rookie
pitcher Brandice Balschmiter. Canney finished her stint in the
circle with four innings pitched, five strikeouts, one walk
and one hit. Following the double play, Danielle Kinley sent a
liner down the right field line for a double with two outs on
the board. Savannah Brown grounded out to Samantha Findlay at
first to end the threat. In the bottom of the fifth the
Bandits struck again after Amber Patton reached third on a
bunt, with and error on the throw to first. She was brought in
to score when Rachel Folden sent a single over the pitchers
head, putting the score at 4-0 in favor of the Bandits.
Balschmiter closed out the rest of the game, earning the save
for the Bandits. She finished in the circle with one hit
allowed, one strikeout and two walks in 10 batters faced.
