Los Angeles 99, Anaheim 89

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Mar. 2 -- The Los Angeles D-Fenders used a 12-4 run in the fourth quarter on Friday to pull away for a 99-89 win over the Arsenal at STAPLES Center.  The victory is the D-Fenders fifth consecutive at home.

Los Angeles outrebounded Anaheim 60-38 and shot a solid 43 percent from the field.

D-Fenders center Wesley Wilson led Los Angelesin rebounding and was the team’s co-leader in points.   Wilsonhad 21 points on 10-15 shooting and added a career-high 13 boards.

“Every game is very important now that we are in the stretch-run.  I am extremely happy that we won.  We played very hard today,” said Wilson.

Guard Brian Chase also had a double-double for Los Angeles.  Chase scored 21 points to go along with a career-high 11 rebounds.

“I am happy with our guys and our concentration tonight.  We got a win against a team that wasn’t going to go away.  I am especially happy with the rebounding effort of Wesley Wilson,” said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio.

Anaheim was led by guard Andre Owens and forward Steven Smith.  Owens finished the game with 19 points and three steals, while Smith added 16 points and eight rebounds.

There were six lead changes in the contest, but Los Angeles proved to be too physical underneath the basket.

“Anytime you give up 21 offensive rebounds to a team like this, you are going to lose.  We thought we did some good things tonight, but we needed to shoot the ball better and finish on the defensive end,” said Anaheim Head Coach Reggie Geary.

The D-Fenders currently lead this series 2-0.  Los Angeles now sits at 19-16 (.543).

Next, Los Angeles hits the road for a week with stops in Albuquerque, Tulsa, and Colorado.  The D-Fenders will return home on Friday, March 16 to host the Albuquerque Thunderbirds at STAPLES Center, before the Lakers game with a 3:30 p.m. tip off.
