The Cubs somehow managed a victory versus the Pittsburgh Pirates this season. And, somehow Alfonso Soriano was the reason why. Soriano belted two home runs leading the Cubs to a 3-1 victory over the Pirates. The Cubs improved to 3-8 on the season versus the lowly Pirates as Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic of ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike in the Morning sang during the seventh inning stretch.
Cold Weather at Wrigley Field
It can sometimes be tricky to predict what clothes to wear at Wrigley Field. First and foremost the direction …

The Cubs were back in town to host the Pittsburgh Pirates after a week on the road. The Pirates, losers of 17 straight road games, were hoping to snap their streak. And, the Cubs were the perfect opponent for them since they are 7-2 against the Cubs this season before last night’s game.
The game appeared to be heading to extra innings until the top of the 9th inning when Jose Tabata doubled to deep right center scoring Ryan Doumit to give the pirates a 2-1 lead.

For the first time this season, the Chicago Sky is playing home games at Allstate Arena – a drastic change in venue from the UIC Pavilion where they have played the past four seasons. In my opinion, the UIC Pavilion is a much better venue given its location near Little Italy neighborhood – a good excuse to combine a game with dinner for the Ultimate Sports Wife. Because of their move, I figured I would not attend any Sky games this season. But, that all changed when I started working …

On Mother’s Day, the Ultimate Sports Wife gave birth to our first child. Today, Dylan (aka Ultimate Sports Baby) attended his fourth Cubs game to celebrate Father’s Day.
Bringing the Ultimate Sports Baby
Since we were with the Ultimate Sports Baby we sat in Row 1 of Section 504 – way down the left field line. One good way to bring an infant to a sporting event is to leave him in his infant car seat. That way you can carry the car seat into the ballpark and not have to take …

Today the Cubs experienced their worst loss in 18 years. The Angels defeated the Cubs 12-0 which matched their 12-0 loss to the Montreal Expos on September 26, 1992. But, that game was in Montreal. This was their worst home loss since losing 17-0 to the Cincinnati Reds on September 4, 1988.
Post Game Dining
After the Cubs dismal performance, my friend Mike Rubin and I went to F. O’Mahony’s located on the corner of N. Broadway and W. Waveland Ave. – only a few blocks towards the lake from Wrigley Field. …

For some scheduling reason, the Los Angeles (Anaheim) Angels had never visited Wrigley Field until today and are the last Major League Baseball team to do so.
Pre Game Dining
Before the game, my friend Cory and I went to Murphy’s – a bar I rarely go to since it is overpriced and overcrowded. But for some reason I went after yesterday’s game and before today’s.
Anaheim Angels at Chicago Cubs
The Angels took advantage of consecutive errors in the 7th inning by Jeff Baker to take a 6-2 lead which they later added …

It was bobblehead day at Wrigley Field. I am never one to enter the ballpark early to receive a promotional giveaway. But my friend, Kelly McMahon, is one. The Ultimate Sports Wife and I were planning to attend the game on our season tickets. That was until Kelly wrote me stating that she would gladly give me her two tickets for the game if I went in early and got her a bobblehead.
Her thought was that I would use one ticket to enter early and leave. I would use the …

It was a beautiful night for a baseball game at Wrigley Field after a rain filled and poor Cubs performance the previous night. The Cubs defeated the Oakland Athletics 6-2 as Cedric the Entertainer sang the seventh inning stretch.
The highlight of the night was Alfonso Soriano sacrifice bunting for the first time as a Chicago Cubs player and the first time in four years.

I normally judge how much rain Chicago gets based on the number of rain delays and postponements during the season. Last year I “went” to four postponed games and two games that were rain-shortened (which doubled my rain-shortened game attendance). That was the most postponed games I have “attended” in any season.
Tonight, the Cubs game versus the Oakland Athletics was delayed by rain for 101 minutes. And, while I do not keep track of rain delayed games, this was my first delayed game this season. The game did not start …

Last night was the 888th regular season MLB game I have attended since 1990. And, it may have been one of the most memorable I have ever attended. The combination of the Blackhawks carrying the Stanley Cup around Wrigley Field, double no-hitters lasting for 6.5 innings for the first time since July 13, 1980 and a near foul ball made for an incredible evening.
Pre Game Ceremony
Before the game, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup were supposed to be a Rockit Bar & Grill. However, when we arrived at 6:30 …
