I wish that this Fukudome story had a happy ending but that remains to be seen.
Read on….from the Sport Business Daily:
“The distributors of a T-shirt featuring a racist caricature of Cubs RF Kosuke Fukudome that are being sold outside of Wrigley Field said that they “plan to sue the Cubs over the team’s efforts to halt sales,” according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. The Cubs said that they “haven’t been officially informed of any legal action.” The shirt features the “image of the Cubs’ cartoon-logo bear face …

In the last leg of the Three-Day Relay, we drove up to Miller Park in Milwaukee for Tuesday’s night game- Brewers versus Braves. I have written in detail about “sausage racing your way up north” and why it is worth the trip.
Here are the top three reasons that I make the trek north. First, there is the allure of the Sausage Race in the sixth. Second, there is the rousing rendition of “Roll Out the Barrel” in the Seventh. And, finally, there is the wide array …

We are in the second day of the Three-Day relay…A sunny and balmy day at Wrigley Field where the Cubs beat the Dodgers 3-1. Andrew and Ultimate Dodger Fan, Will, enjoyed a day at the park. I, on the other hand, spent a day cashing-in with a good ole’ fashion lemonade stand to fund raise for my skating students. We worked our tails off and earned an impressive $200 in profits. You got to love the drunk fan who handed over a $20 for a glass of lemonade …

Ultimate Dodger Fan, sometimes known as Big Willie Styles, is in Chicago visiting and attempting a rare baseball vacation: three days, three teams, and three stadiums.
This Three-Day Relay will start on the South-side at U.S. Cellular Field then move North to Wrigley and then, move very far North to Miller Park.
Of course, the games are scheduled along with brunches, sightseeing, and grilling to make this itinerary more than worth the trip. We will keep you posted on the progress but if you hurry, you can still join …

In a tribute to one of the most famous and notorious American statesmen, Republican Senator Larry Craig, the St. Paul Saints baseball club (an independent club that plays in the American Association), has devised one of the most creative game day giveaways that I have ever seen: a mini bathroom stall with a pair of legs and feet…one of which is rigged to tap.
The press release issued by the Saint’s organization states that 2500 lucky fans will received these “bobblefoot” knickknacks in honor of “National Tap Dance Day.” Yet, the …

Last night, we went to the The Chicago Sky’s home opener at the UIC Pavilion. Now, you may wonder…with the Chicago Fire, the White Sox, the Chicago Rush in town, why would chose to go to the WNBA game? Well, the best feature of the UIC Pavilion is its proximity to Little Italy. You can stay for the game and then, walk to an amazing Italian meal after.
Our favorite place, Tufano’s, is within walking distance from the stadium on the eastern …

Perhaps the rising prices at the pump have already put you in a panic. Our first $70 fill-up was quiet an eye-opener. But, now this article from TheTimesNews.com details the toll that rising prices are wreaking on one of my favorite sports-NASCAR. Seems that gas-guzzling is not just for Earnhardt and Gordon, but essential to the transportation and fan culture of NASCAR. For many fans, the venues are more than 250 miles away and a trip to an event is not just one day …
Roof Top Antics »
Once I scraped myself off the floor from the flu on Saturday, I was enthusiastic to start anew on Sunday. I felt in good spirits, and it was my last chance to redeem my weekend so I was determined to make the best of it. Not to mention that we had our first Cubs game of the season on the rooftop.
As you know, we are bartering our garage for access to coveted rooftop games, so as they say…Sunday was payday and I was ready to indulge …

In my most pathetic and sad state ever, I had to leave the game today in disgrace. I didn’t feel too well on my way to the game but pressed on so as not to miss a great day of baseball. By the time I got to my seat, I was shaking with a fever. I am sitting there rocking in my chair and finally, by the seventh, I had to scream “UNCLE!”
I thought very carefully about my decision to leave. To make my attendance “official” …
Woe is Me and My Cubs »
So, during Cubs season, I am often overwhelmed by baseball. My whole day revolves around the Cubs Clock…an internal clock that determines your work schedule, your commute itinerary, and even how much work you can get done.
With the Cubs at home, my week gets rough. I work. I run home. I stress. I am late but I get into the game in the 2nd inning.
But today, I am overwhelmed by the possibility that I may be become a real bleacher bum. Not the kind …
