Jose Canseco is Hero (Zero) »
I feel very bad right now. Remember my moral dilemma?
I was supposed to buy Jose Canseco’s new book, Vindicated, for my Husband. He is an insane fan– so much so, that I almost left my job to buy Jose’s new book, and get an autograph while Andrew was trapped in the burbs.
Well, I am feeling quite guilty that I did not go. It seems that poor Jose is facing some hard times and could really use the cash. It appears that he, like …
Woe is Me and My Cubs »
I recently wrote about the dubious honor of the Cubs 10,000 wins.
Please take a read of my recent blog if you want to understand why I am so suspect of this honor. Let me point out a painful but obvious statistic that since the Cubs hailed that “10,000 Win” flag, they have lost 5 out of 7 games.
Last night, the promotion was a faux “W” flag for the first 10,000 fans. Isn’t that risky business? It’s a flag that you only can use for …
Cold Weather Cubs »
There is no reason that we should be wearing snow pants to a Cubs game on April 30th except for the fact that Chicago weather is messed up.
Tuesday night, we sat for a slow and painful Cubs loss to the Brewers, but it might as well been the Chicago Bears playing.Fans were decked out in Bears gear to stay warm. I guess it makes sense. We are Chicago fans, enduring Bears’ weather and Cubs’ gear just doesn’t come that warm.

Tonight the Cubs are back in town versus the Brewers.
But, just cause the blogging has been slow, doesn’t mean there hasn’t been planning in the works. This weekend, we are off to visit family near Laredo, Texas. So, there has been scoping and planning for a game either in the US or even cross the border in Mexico. No luck in Mexico. I thought there may be some second grade futbol team. Instead, we may schedule a b-grade baseball game in …

You can always tell the true Cubs fans from the rookies who come for their one game per season.
Neighborhood Cubs fans have the latest Cubs gear on rather than the generic stuff hawked on the corner of Addison and Sheffield…you know, the shiny MLB wear that you can buy at the Sears.
Well, while the Cubs are away, losing two in a row might I add, I thought I would catch up with a few neighborhood tips.
The best Fan Fashion in the neighborhood is …
Woe is Me and My Cubs »
We watched the Cubs 10,000th win from a North Side bar-enjoying German brews and great food.
I was a little confused by the enormous celebration. Sure, 10,000 wins is a milestone but hidden in the numbers is years of pain and loss. 10,000 wins represents a long history of baseball in Chicago. Generations of fans have waited for that sacred winning season where “this year is finally here.” 10,000 wins is really over a hundred years in the making. Is it really an accomplishment or …
Day Games »
I always wondered how people were able to go to a Cubs day game. Don’t these people have jobs? How are they at the park when I am stuck at work? Well, don’t make a little thing like a job stand in your way from a day of baseball.
On Tuesday, going to the Cubs vs. Mets day game meant getting up at the break of dawn for baseball and needing a day to recover. But, it was worth it. The Ultimate Sports Fan and …

Let me be clear in saying that this blog may have a Cubs slant, but it is more focused on sports fandemonium, in general. So, I was deeply conflicted on whether to post this at all.
One of my loyal readers, who I will call “British Bob,” sent me this video with the intention of making my blood boil. The video is Red’s announcer, Marty Brennaman, ripping on Chicago Cubs Fans with an intense amount of disdain.
I recently wrote about my equation for loyalty and hatred …

What do you do when a hour and a half of rush hour traffic stands between you and the Cubs game? You get creative and perhaps a bit desperate.
The Ultimate Sports Fan found himself stuck at work, way out in the North suburbs with little chance to get to Wrigleyville in time for the 6pm night game. Many sports fans might just give up. Instead, the Ultimate Sports Fan hightailed it North…to Miller Park. Now, many people might not think to head North if the …
Fan Loyalty »
I have this theory about St. Louis Fans…I believe they live amongst us in Wrigleyville- posing as Cubs fans, hanging out at Murphy’s, wearing their Cubs gear…only to betray us when their “real” team comes to town. This is a possible explanation for over abundance of St. Louis fans inundating Wrigley when the Cards play the Cubs.
I have always been open about my distain and bias against the Cards. In fact, I have an equation for expressing fan loyalty through hatred:
Your love of the Cubs must …
