Big Day in Chicago: Cardinals at Cubs
It was a big day for sporting events in Chicago. First, the Chicago Cubs were hosting the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field at 3:10 pm. Second, the Chicago Blackhawks were hosting the Philadelphia Flyers in the first NHL Finals game in Chicago in 18 years. With the NHL Finals game starting at 7:00 pm there was very little wiggle room for the Cubs game to run long.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
As was the case Friday, I was shocked at how little Cubs tickets were selling for outside of Wrigley Field for the Cardinals. I ended up paying $25 for a $70.56 ticket in the upper deck box.
St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs
In need of a quick game, the Cubs and Cardinals delivered a 2 hour and 33 minute affair. Much of the thanks go to Carlos Silva who motored through the Cardinals lineup to become 7-0 on the season. He became the first player to start his Cubs career at 7-0 since Jim Weaver achieved the feat in 1934.
Mike Fontenot hit a pair of triples as the Cubs defeated the Cardinals 5-0.
