For the first time since 1989, the Chicago Bulls played a pre-season game at Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL. Since I had not attended a game at Assembly Hall, I decided to drive to last night’s Bulls game rather than attend a University of Illinois basketball game. Last year, I had planned to drive to Champaign when the Fighting Illini hosted Northwestern on Sunday, January 27. Instead I went to the Chicago Bulls game that day.

The original plan yesterday was to only go to the Cubs game. I went with my colleague Charles Merritt. The Cubs won a back and forth game 9-7. Fukudome put the Cubs in the lead 7-5 with a clutch two out double in the bottom of the 7th inning bringing on supportive cheers from Wrigley faithful.

Again, there was a lack of scalpers outside the Bulls game. It must be the low prices Bulls tickets are selling for now. I walked up to one of the box offices and a man had a $120 ticket available. He offered it for $60 but that was still too much for me. I probably would have paid $30 but never made the offer. After a couple minutes I asked another guy if he had an extra ticket.
