On a hot summer night Derrek Lee, Alfonso Soriano and Geovany Soto all hit home runs as the Cubs defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 12-6 giving 47-year-old Jamie Moyer his first loss at Wrigley Field since the 1988 season. It was a typical Saturday afternoon – attend the Cubs game with the family. The Ultimate Sports Wife and I walked over to Wrigley Field with the Ultimate Sports Baby as Dylan attended his eighth Cubs game today at the young age of eight weeks old (averaging one game per week of life is not bad).

The Cubs were back in town to host the Pittsburgh Pirates after a week on the road. The Pirates, losers of 17 straight road games, were hoping to snap their streak. And, the Cubs were the perfect opponent for them since they are 7-2 against the Cubs this season before last night’s game.
The game appeared to be heading to extra innings until the top of the 9th inning when Jose Tabata doubled to deep right center scoring Ryan Doumit to give the pirates a 2-1 lead.
