Day Two with Gary Herman and The King: Pirates at Cubs

16 May 2010 No Comment

For the second day in a row, I met up with The King and Gary Herman as they were attending their 5th of six baseball games in three days. They attended the Friday afternoon Cubs game, the Friday night Brewers game, the Saturday afternoon Cubs game, the Saturday evening Kane County Cougars game, the Sunday afternoon Cubs game and Sunday night baseball in Milwaukee – just a typical weekend for the two of them.

Beg, Borrow and Deal
As was the case Saturday I was planning to sit with Gary and The King so I offered a scalper $10 for a ticket. This time he handed over an upper deck box infield seat (face value $50.40).

Pittsburgh Pirates at Chicago Cubs
The Cubs came from behind against the Pirates scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh and one in the bottom of the eighth to win 4-3. The win avoided an embarrassing sweep by the Pirates at Wrigley Field which would have been the first for the Pirates since 2000. The Cubs’ Starlin Castro had his first hitless day after starting his career with an eight game hitting streak. Cubs’ manager Lou Piniella won his 1800th game – the 14th manager to do so.
