Family Reunion in Oakland: Tigers at Athletics
It was the Ultimate Sports Baby and my last day in the Bay Area. Our flight back to Chicago left from Oakland at 6:10 pm. Thus, I planned to attend the Oakland Athletics afternoon game before flying back to Chicago Sunday evening. My parents, brother, his girlfriend and her three kids were all attending the game. We had to buy tickets from the box office since we needed eight tickets. First, we needed room to spread out and second, scalpers usually do not have eight together for a cheap price. Plus, A’s tickets are already cheap, so scalpers cannot usually beat their lowest price. Thus, we bought the cheapest tickets from the box office for $9 each.
However, as it turns out the best “value” ticket is the $12 value deck seats – also known as the upper deck at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Sean MacDonald, who attended the game with us, bought this ticket for the game. The ticket includes $6 worth of food and since my brother ended buying a lot of food, we would have saved $3 per ticket. Although, the value deck may not have been as convenient since there is no good spot in the “value” deck to park the stroller I brought for the Ultimate Sports Baby.
Detroit Tigers at Oakland Athletics
Trevor Cahill shut down the Tigers leading the A’s to a 5-1 victory. After the game Dylan and I were off to Oakland Airport. Since the game only took 2 hours and 39 minutes we were at the airport with plenty of time before our flight back to Chicago.
