Kid’s Sign Puts Ultimate Sports Fan on ESPN
For the second week in a row Sunday night baseball was held at Wrigley Field – two Sunday night baseball games at the same location in back-to-back weeks is definitely rare. The St. Louis Cardinals were looking to avoid being swept by the Chicago Cubs and managed to comeback from a 3-2 deficit to defeat the Cubs 4-3 in 11 innings.
A kid sitting next to us held up a sign throughout the entire game that read:
It’s A Plane
It’s Superman
No It’s Marlon Byrd
At first I thought there was no way this kid would get any air time from ESPN. First, we were sitting in the upper deck and second our seats were not very close to any cameras. But, to my surprise, one cameraman turned his camera in the direction of the kid and next thing we knew his sign was on the televisions of Wrigley Field with me standing right next to him. I know I have been on television before, but I never know exactly when it occurs.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
Once again I attended the game with Sean MacDonald, who runs the website sportsroadtrips.blogspot.com. However, today we did not have tickets ahead of time so we decided to buy standing room only tickets for $16.80 to avoid the hassle of buying tickets from scalpers. And, as usual, there were empty seats around Wrigley Field so we sat in section 527 – the location of my season tickets.
