NFL in London: Broncos at 49ers
One of the main reasons for taking the trip to London this week, was that the San Francisco 49ers were hosting the Denver Broncos at Wembley Stadium in the NFL’s annual regular season game in London. The game was scheduled to kick off at 5 pm on Sunday night.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
After spending the day with one of Nicole’s friends from high school I arrived at Wembley around 4 pm. Rather than check out the pub scene around the stadium, I decided to look for a ticket. I found an American who was living in England who had an extra ticket. Face value on the ticket was £60 but I did not want to pay that much. We eventually agreed on £20 for the ticket.

The 49ers took a 3-0 lead into halftime and Tim Tebow rushed for a one yard touchdown to give the Broncos a 7-3 at the end of the third quarter. I’m sure this is not the start the NFL wanted to entertain the fans who were attending the game in London.
But the fourth quarter added the excitement the rest of the game was missing. With Alex Smith injured, Troy Smith threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to give the 49ers a 17-10 lead. The 49ers eventually won the game 24-16 which saw 30 total points scored in the fourth quarter.
