Ryan Theriot Bobblehead Day: Athletics at Cubs
It was bobblehead day at Wrigley Field. I am never one to enter the ballpark early to receive a promotional giveaway. But my friend, Kelly McMahon, is one. The Ultimate Sports Wife and I were planning to attend the game on our season tickets. That was until Kelly wrote me stating that she would gladly give me her two tickets for the game if I went in early and got her a bobblehead.
Her thought was that I would use one ticket to enter early and leave. I would use the second ticket to enter at game time and attend the game. Instead, Nicole and I invited a couple of friends with her tickets and told one of them they needed to enter the ballpark early and get her a bobblehead. A fair trade for a free ticket they thought.
Oakland Athletics at Chicago Cubs
In the rubber match of the three game series, the Athletics took a one-run lead into the 7th inning. The A’s were 28-0 when leading after seven innings. However, somehow the Cubs scored one run in the 8th and one in the 9th to come back and win 3-2. Dallas Braden was deprived of his first victory since he threw his perfect game on Mother’s Day May 9.
Ryan Theriot did not play well on his bobblehead day. He was 0-4 before his key walk in the 9th inning.
Post Game
After the game I met Hospitality Jim at Murphy’s. Although more expensive than most Wrigleyville bars, Murphy’s is one of the most famous bars in the area and a must stop on anyone’s first visit to Wrigley Field.
