Saturday Afternoon Baseball on the Southside
Unless the Chicago White Sox have a Saturday home game on FOX, they always schedule their Saturday games for 6:05 pm. This does not allow me to attend many weekend White Sox games as I cannot leave the wife alone on a Saturday night. However, for the past several years, the White Sox scheduled their first Saturday home game of the year for 12:10 pm rather than 6:05 pm. The reason for this is that it could easily be 35 degrees on an April afternoon in Chicago and in the 20s that same night.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
Yet, today’s weather was once again abnormal for early April – meaning there were not as many extra tickets outside of the ballpark as I expected. The temperature hovered around 70 degrees for most of the game. I eventually found a scalper who had an extra single outside of gate 3. The ticket’s face value was $39. I paid $14.
Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox
In a well-pitched game, Jason Kubel hit a two-run homer in the top of the 7th inning to lead the Twins to a 2-1 win over the White Sox. The Twins tried to add to their lead in the 8th inning by loading the bases with none out. But Scott Linebrink came in and retired the Twins next three batters to allow zero runs.
