Women’s Basketball: Indiana at Northwestern

19 February 2010 No Comment

Once again Nicole needed to be on campus tonight.  With the Northwestern women’s basketball team playing at home I decided to make the trip to Evanston.  I dropped Nicole off at the Sociology department and drove up to Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Obtaining Tickets
Tonight may have been the first time I have paid full price (only $7) for a Northwestern women’s basketball game.  In the past, the women’s games have always seemed to have some special that allowed you to buy a discounted ticket.

The Game
The women pulled off something the men could not do last night – come from behind to win the game.  Indiana led by four points with 23 seconds left in the game, but Northwestern made two three-point shots to send the game to overtime.  The first was made by Kristin Cartwright with 14 seconds left and the second by Beth Marshall with only four seconds left.

Marshall scored six of the Wildcats 10 points in overtime to lead Northwestern to the 78-73 win.

In the stands at the game were Kyle Rowley and Michael Thompson of the men’s basketball team.  I may have said something to them but I had nothing to say after their devastating loss last night.

Post Game Dining
After the game, I picked up Nicole and we ate dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings in Evanston.  Buffalo Wild Wings seems to be my women’s basketball restaurants of choice as I also eat there before or after DePaul women’s basketball games.
