Reliant Stadium One Reliant Park, Houston, TX
Stadium Review
Reliant Stadium was built in time for the expansion Houston Texans to move in for the start of the 2002 NFL season. In addition to the Texans, Reliant Stadium hosts the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo each year – the world’s largest livestock exhibition and rodeo.
In the past Reliant Stadium hosted several other significant sport events starting with Super Bowl XXXVIII on February 1, 2004. It also hosted Wrestlemania XXV on April 5, 2009 and the 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Regional Finals.
It currently hosts the Texas Bowl each year and is looking forward to hosting the 2010 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament South Regional Finals, the 2010 MLS All-Star Game and the 2011 and 2016 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four.
Parking and Tailgating
Even though restaurants are listed to the right to enjoy before or after the game, if you really want to experience a Houston Texans game you should plan to tailgate either on your own or find your way into somebody else’s tailgate. Houston is consistently ranked in the top 5 tailgating experiences at NFL stadiums.
If you cannot get into the main parking lot there are many independent parking lots surrounding the stadium lots.
Public Transportation
Rather than going out around Reliant Stadium, you have the option of going out in downtown Houston and taking the METRORail. The ride from downtown to the stadium takes about 25 minutes.
Check out the Minute Maid Park or Toyota Center pages for restaurant recommendations in downtown Houston.
Location of Ticket Scalpers
As with any NFL game, ticket scalpers can be found everywhere around Reliant Stadium. The main area to find tickets is on the walk from the METRORail station to the stadium. Remember not to buy or sell tickets to close to the stadium as undercover police are watching the area.
