Stadium Review
Jacksonville Municipal Stadium opened on August 18, 1995 with a pre-season game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and St. Louis Rams. The first regular season NFL game took place on September 3, 1995. The stadium hosted the AFC Championship game on January 23, 2000 between the Jaguars and Tennessee Titans.
Annual events that occur at the stadium are the Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic and the Gator Bowl.
In the past, the stadium (then called Alltel Stadium) hosted Super Bowl XXXIX – easily the biggest event to take place there. In addition, the stadium hosted the ACC Championship Game from 2005 to 2007.
