Game StoryCHICAGO (Ticker) -- Mookie Blaylock scored 23 points and drilled a pair of clutch 3-pointers in the second overtime as the Golden State Warriors snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 95-92 triumph over the Chicago Bulls.
Blaylock nailed his second 3-pointer of the second overtime with 1:46 left to put the Warriors ahead, 92-87. He shot 8-of-17 overall and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Hersey Hawkins nailed two free throws with 1:27 left to bring Chicago within three. But Donyell Marshall hit 1-of-2 from the line and rookie Vonteego Cummings added two to put the Warriors ahead, 95-89, with 17 seconds left.
Chris Carr drilled a 3-pointer for Chicago with 5.4 seconds left and stole the inbounds pass from Billy Owens. But Carr missed badly on the tying attempt and time expired, sending the Bulls to their fifth straight loss.
"I definitely had a good look. I wasn't sure how much time was left," Carr said. "We definitely penciled this one in as a game we could win. But we try to win every night, not just against teams with losing records."
Marshall scored 21 points and former Bull Jason Caffey added 15 for Golden State, which swept the season series from Chicago for the first time since 1986-87. It also snapped a six-game losing streak in Chicago.
Marshall made 9-of-20 shots and Blaylock 8-of-17 for Golden State, which shot 42 percent from the field and notched its first win since topping Atlanta on February 28.
"It must be spring. I think we played a doubleheader," Warriors coach Garry St. Jean said. "Mookie made some big plays for us, especially down the stretch. It certainly wasn't anything artistic."
Larry Hughes, obtained in a three-way trade from Philadelphia that also involved Chicago, scored 14 points and Cummings added 11 for the Warriors.
Dickey Simpkins grabbed 12 rebounds before fouling out. Randy Brown and rookie Elton Brand also were disqualified as were Hughes and Caffey as the teams were whistled for a combined 68 fouls.
"We got a nice effort from Dickey Simpkins on the defensive boards," Bulls coach Tim Floyd said. "Neither team was crisp. When both teams had a chance to finish, there was more concentration."
"There were lots of fouls called tonight. Just too many," Hughes said. "It was hard to be out at that time and not help my team. The teams stepped up then and made plays."
Brand paced the Bulls with 26 points and 10 rebounds in 50 minutes and Fred Hoiberg added 18 points. Brand forced overtime when he rebounded Brown's miss and drilled a short jumper at the buzzer for a 75-75 tie.
Brown scored 16 points and took a turn at playing hero in the first overtime when he hit two foul shots with 8.8 seconds left to tie it, 82-82. Marshall committed an offensive foul and Brown had his chance for the win, but missed an 18-footer as time expired.
