Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Antawn Jamison had 24 points and 12 rebounds as the Golden State Warriors stopped an eight-game losing streak with an 84-78 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

"I don't think I was quicker than my defenders tonight," Jamison said. "I really didn't feel comfortable all night but just tried to fit in and contribute where I could."

The Bulls pulled within 82-78 with 19 seconds to play on a follow shot by Elton Brand, who finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds. But the Warriors were able to hold on, beating Chicago for the fourth straight time.

"It's very disappointing," Brand said. "It was a winnable game. We just didn't come with it tonight."

Golden State used an 18-4 run in the third quarter to build a 67-56 lead with 1:48 to play. Adonal Foyle had six points in the surge and Jamison added four.

Chicago scored just 11 points in the third quarter and committed 10 turnovers, one off the franchise record. The Bulls went 3-of-14 from the floor in the period.

Foyle had 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks for the Warriors, who shot 46 percent (35-of-76) and snapped a nine-game road losing streak.

"(Dikembe) Mutumbo is my favorite player," Foyle said. "The mentality of a shot-blocker has to be one of a tougher player because you'll get dunked on and you just have to stay in there. I think it energizes my team."

"It was all Foyle," Jamison said. "It turned the game around for us in the third quarter. I think the Bulls got a little bit intimidated in the third and started to turn the ball over. We really needed this game. I guess that's a bit of an overstatement.

Fred Hoiberg collected 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulls, who shot 38 percent (29-of-76) and fell to 3-4 since the All-Star break.

The Bulls were seeking their second two-game winning streak of the season. The first came February 13-17 with wins over the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat.

"This was an important win for this team," Warriors guard Mookie Blaylock said. "Kids like Jamison, Foyle and Vonteego Cummings are going to be good players in this league. It's nice to go on the road and win a game for a change."
