CHICAGO, June 8 (Reuters) - Mexico, thumped 4-1 by Argentina on Wednesday, bounced back to trounce Peru 4-0 in a friendly on Sunday with all the goals coming in the first half hour.Midfielder Fernando Arce scored twice while teenager Carlos Vela and Andres Guardado shared the other goals to impress new coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Former England coach Eriksson will take over from caretaker Jesus Ramirez following the two-leg World Cup qualifying tie against Belize later this month.
Peru, who have handed 18 month international bans to four leading players for indiscipline, will go into their World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Uruguay at a low ebb after another embarrassing display.
Arce had already been stopped once by Peru goalkeeper George Forsyth before he opened the scoring in the fifth minute, heading in from Luis Perez's cross after being left unmarked.
Almost immediately, Carlos Salcido hit the post for Mexico and in the eight minute Andres Guardado slotted home the second after the Peru defence failed to cut out Ricardo Osorio's cross.
Vela, 19, scored his second goal in five internationals in the 20th minute, taking advantage after Forsyth misjudged a Perez pass.
Arce added the fourth from close range in the 28th minute before Mexico took their foot off the pedal.
