     Right Lane: John Lawson      Runs 5.069/299.13, Now #1
Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 81 percent, barometer 29.18 inches, adjusted altitude 2,576 feet, track temperature 103 degrees.

Lawson with a good looking pass to start the weekend.

      Left Lane: Dale Creasy Jr.  Runs 8.211/122.86, Now #3
     Right Lane: Keith Jackson    Runs 5.442/243.33, Now #2
Creasy dropped a cylinder on the right side and then clicked it off. Jackson shut it off early.
      Left Lane: Bob Bode         Runs 4.995/302.55, Now #2
     Right Lane: Jeff Arend       Runs 4.968/312.57, Now #1
This was a pretty good looking drag race here. Bode with his first pass since Vegas and it was straight down the groove. Arend was able to keep the candles lit and the Goodyears hooked for a good pass to tune from for the rest of the weekend.
      Left Lane: Terry Haddock    Runs 5.040/300.60, Now #3
Haddock with a good pass to start the weekend, got a little out of the groove on the top end.

     Right Lane: Tony Bartone     Runs 6.004/153.07, Now #6
Head shook right off the starting line and clicked it off. Bartone started to lose traction around 330 feet and clicked it off.

     Right Lane: Ron Capps        Runs 4.966/308.28, Now #1
Gilbertson was on a good looking pass, but then banged the blower in the lights. Capps was able to keep the tires stuck and the car hitting on all all the way down the 1320.
      Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr.Runs 4.960/274.44, Now #2
     Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon    Runs 4.916/307.93, Now #1
Johnson Jr was skating around, but reeled it in and keep his foot in it. After the finish line there was a big puff of smoke out of the headers and then the blower belt came out from under the car. Pedregon with a nice looking pass here to start the weekend.

     Right Lane: Jerry Toliver    Runs 10.088/87.27, Now #13
Toliver started to smoke the tires right off the starting line and he clicked it off. Pedregon with a great looking pass here, it was right down the groove.

Burkart was on a nice pass until the just before the finish line when it started to eat itself up. Medlen with great looking pass to go to the number one spot.

This was great side-by-side drag race, both cars running identical E.T.s and Densham getting the higher qualifying spot based on mph.

Both cars with good passes to start the weekend.

Capps launched hard and then the engine let go around 300 feet with a quick fireball. Then in the shut down area the car slid around in his oil to get the car stopped. Gilbertson with a good pass to move off the bubble.

After about a hour delay for the oil clean up and then high winds we are back to racing. Johnson Jr smoked the tires around 330 feet down track and clicked it off. Force keep the Goodyears hooked and the car hitting on all eight to take the number one spot.

Weather conditions: air temperature 70 degrees, relative humidity 76 percent, barometer 29.23 inches, adjusted altitude 1,878 feet, track temperature 79 degrees.

Medlen lost traction right off the starting line. Pedregon with a great pass to become the quickest and fastest Funny Car driver in NHRA history. That was a picture perfect pass, with a perfect header flame pattern. Pedregon will need to run a 4.763 seconds E.T. to back up the record and 327.96 mph to back up the record.

Haddock had problems early in the run and clicked it off. Toliver dropped a cylinder around half track and then really started mixing them up on the top end. Finally the engine let go with a quick fire ball and he gets it stopped and his out of the car. The Safety Safari was right on the scene to get the fire out. That is toliver's fourth oil down this season.

Medlen with a career best E.T. in qualifying while Arend ran a career best E.T. and mph.

Arend is out of the gate first and had the lead until just before half track when Medlen chased him down. Good clean passes for both of these teams.

Bode with his career best mph pass here in qualifying. Bode got a lead on the starting line, but Densham chased him down by 500 feet and drove away for the win. He will face his teammate Medlen in round two and he will have lane choice.

Pedregon with the quickest and the fastest Funny Car. This is the sixth time Toliver has qualified 16th and has only won twice from that position. Toliver is up in smoke right off the starting line. Pedregon dropped some cylinders and was moving around in the middle of the track.

Bazemore has been to the final in three of the last four races and holds a 14 to 9 lead over Capps in head to head match ups.

They almost leave together and Capps has the lead until just before 1000 feet when Bazemore drove around him for the win.

Scelzi for the third consecutive time at this track has set the National mph record. Scelzi is out of the gate first and then got loose and pedaled it. He then dropped cylinders and and was shaking tire and clicked it off. Bartone with his career best E.T. pass here to take the win light.

Worsham won here in 2001 and 2002 and he holds a four to three advantage over Gilbertson in head to head match ups. Worsham is out of the gate first and has the tires hiked and got out of the groove. He keeps moving toward the centerline and then collected the half-track cones. Gilbertson in only his fourth pass on this new car is moving on to round two. He will face Bartone and will give up lane choice.

This is Wilkerson's 23rd wedding anniversary with his wife Krista. Wilkerson won his first nitro race here in 1999. Pedregon has qualified for every race this season.

Pedregon dropped cylinders right off the starting line and was never able to pick them back up. Wilkerson was skating around in the middle of the track and then dropped a cylinder or two on the top end. He will have lane choice over Bazemore in round two.

Burkart has already beat Force twice this season in round one, but John holds a slight advantage in head to head match ups five to four.

They left together and then it was all Force for the win. This was a great drag race with Force winning by about ten feet. Force will have lane choice over Tony Pedregon in round two.

Densham is making his 400th round of racing here. Densham was out of the gate first, but Medlen had the difference made up by 100 feet and takes the win. Eric Medlen's MOV: 0.0292 seconds (approximately 14 feet). This was a great drag race.

Gilbertson had trouble getting the car to start and finally gets it to start. Bartone had already completed his burnout and Stewart tells Gilbertson to stage the car. They both get staged and Gilbertson with the slight starting line advantage, but was up in smoke before he got to the 60-foot mark. Bartone lost traction and got real loose and close to the centerline, but reeled it in for the win. Bartone will give up lane choice to Bazemore.

Pedregon was out of the gate first and then got real loose and made a quick move toward the centerline. He was trying to reel it in and finally collects the 1000 foot cone and the finish line cones to give Force the win. Force dropped a cylinder or two right off the starting line, but will take the win light. He will give up lane choice to teammate Medlen in the next round.

This is the first time these two have raced each other and this is the 115th different driver Force has faced. Medlen had trouble with the burnout. Medlen was late on the tree and then lost traction right off starting line. He is then on and off the throttle a couple times, but was never in this race. Force with a career best mph and tied his career best E.T. on this pass.

Bazemore is out of the gate first and runs the quickest and fastest pass in the history of Funny Car. Bazemore sets the National E.T. record here with a 4.713 seconds and needs a 329.91 to back up his mph record. This will be a great final with Bazemore getting lane choice. Bartone had problems early in the run and clicked it off.

Bazemore is out of the gate first, but lost traction immediately and the car was side ways. Bazemore was off and on the throttle a couple times trying to recover. Force with a great looking pass to take the win. Bazemore will leave with the National E.T. record and the point lead and Force with the win goes into second place. This is Force's second win here in Chicago and his 111th career win.
